How to use a Gohan night at home
One English night and one maths night. Sit beside. Stop on time. Not a second classroom.
Gohan is eight English nights and eight maths nights in Term 4 2026, for Year 2 or Year 5. It is supplementary practice. It is not homework from your child’s school, and it is not a replacement for the reading bag.
Tap a year and a subject on the home page — Year 2 English, Year 2 maths, Year 5 English, or Year 5 maths. That opens this term’s week list. Each night is a session, for example y2-en-t4-w1.
The shape of a night
- Read the parent card first. Script, say-this, answers (keep them closed), and stop-if-tense.
- Sit beside, not opposite. You are a partner, not an examiner.
- Keep to the minutes on the session. Year 2 is 10–15 minutes. Year 5 is 15–20. Stop when the time is up, even if a line is unfinished.
- Skip if the week is loud. Labour Day week (from Monday 26 October) has no Monday session. The last fortnight of term after 7 December is optional.
- Cite, do not score. Session language is a Parent Portal summary of the gazetted teaching sequence, labelled not an achievement objective. We do not invent AOs.
If you only have one night this week
Do this week’s English or this week’s maths. Completing all eight weeks is not the goal. A calm habit is.
Printing
Open the session and use Print or save as PDF, or download the A4 PDF. You get a 1–2 page child sheet and a parent card. Print in black and white if you like.
Holidays
From no later than 19 December the pack is pleasure-reading and play-maths. Not catch-up worksheets.
